Fake Flammekueche à la FFF

This is a very simple, quickly done fake flammekueche, the real ones make part of the long list of signature dishes of the Alsace region. It only takes 5 minutes to prepare it, the result though is always quite convincing.

Flammekueche: It's just a fake but you'll like it.

serves 3-4

  • 1 ready made puff pastry
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tblsps grated cheese (Gruyère)
  • 2 tblsps crème fraiche
  • 1 tblsp mustard
  • 1 teasp capers
  • some slices of ham or salami or smoked salmon
  • 1 spring onion

Pre-heat oven to 200°C. Roll out the pastry to the size of a baking tray. Whisk the egg and mix with all other ingredients, except the ham/salami and the spring onion. Line  a baking tray with non-stick-paper. Put the pastry on the tray, spread the cheesy mixture on the fake flammekueche. Top with slices of ham/salami/salmon and chopped spring onion. Bring into the oven and bake until browned to your liking.
