A dining Oscar for Le Bistrot Paul Bert…

…would fall due if there was an award of that kind. It’s a long time favorite restaurant of all food lovers who really know Paris and who are looking for a good meal, good ambiance and what the French call convivialité. Go there with your spouse or a couple of friends or even with your parents – satisfaction will be guaranteed (as long as you pick the right Paul Bert, there’s more than one in Paris, so beware!).

Just have a look at these classic desserts we’ve enjoyed yesterday at our table. They came last in a three-course-menu for only 34 Euros (46 US-$). Mine started with a great, puffy millefeuille filled with a creamy preparation of snails, followed by a great beef cheek stew. Then came my giant Baba au rhum, generously sprinkled with rum, topped with whipped cream…in Paris, that’s the moment to say: Plus français et tu meurs, quoi! That means: You can’t get frenchier than this! Hat off to this great bistrotier!
